PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Pharmacy Science program teaches students the delivery of pharmaceutical services alongside licensed pharmacists in a pharmacy setting. The program teaches medical terminology, pharmacy law, quality customer service, pharmacology, preparing prescription medications, and administrative duties such as inventory of drugs and pharmacy operations.
Apart from the core curriculum, learners are trained for the job-seeking process through resume building workshops, field trips and simulated lab experience. During the program, accommodations and modifications are provided to high school students based on the IEP/504.
After completion of the one-year program, successful candidates will be prepared to seek one or more certifications like the National Healthcareer Association- Pharmacy Technician Certification. Moreover, West-MEC offers most industry credential tests at no additional cost. Through the program and certification, students receive pharmacy technician training and are prepared for the workforce.

Pharmacy Technician entry-level salary: $12.00 – $17.44 per hour**
